Direct Primary Care (DPC)

Primary care. A continuing relationship.

Direct Primary Care (DPC) membership provides ongoing primary care for a set monthly fee, with direct communication and timely access to your provider.

What is Direct Primary Care?

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a membership model in which patients pay the clinic directly for ongoing primary care. At Heartland Medicine Colville Clinic, members pay a monthly fee for the services described in our patient contract.

Membership includes office visits as often as needed, with no limit on the number of visits.

Care that continues beyond one visit

Membership establishes a primary care relationship for routine care, ongoing medical needs and coordination with specialists when needed.

You pay the clinic directly. We do not accept or bill insurance of any kind. Membership is not health insurance and does not replace coverage for hospital care or other services outside the membership.

What membership offers

  • Acute and non-acute office visits.
  • Routine physicals and wellness evaluations.
  • Well-child and well-woman care.
  • Ongoing monitoring of conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
  • Direct communication with your provider.
  • Coordination with specialists when referrals are needed.
  • Care for multiple medical concerns in a single visit.

The patient contract describes included services, additional charges and membership terms. Laboratory testing, medications and outside services may carry separate charges.

Same-day appointments*

Members can often get an appointment the same day they call. Phone the clinic to arrange a visit.

*Every reasonable effort is made to accommodate urgent membership needs within 24 hours; same-day availability is not guaranteed.

Membership questions

Is Direct Primary Care the same as concierge care?

Both models use membership fees, but their payment arrangements differ. Concierge practices often charge a membership fee in addition to billing insurance. Our Direct Primary Care membership pays for the services described in our patient contract, and we do not bill insurance.

Is Direct Care health insurance?

No. Membership pays for the primary care services described in the patient contract. It does not replace health insurance or cover hospital and specialist bills.

What are the rates for children and families?

All minors must have an adult enrolled. See the age-based rates and the patient contract for enrollment requirements. Families of three or more enrolled members receive a 10% discount on membership fees for every family member.
